Could You Go One Day in New Hampshire Without a Jeanne Shaheen-supported Tax?
Posted October 5th, 2008 by LamontIt’s a simple question, really. But the answer is unfortunate. For New Hampshire families, the Jeanne Shaheen taxes are everywhere you look:
Jeanne Shaheen suggested an increase in gas taxes and was caught unconstitutionally diverting gas tax revenues to a pet project. In fact, she wanted the state to look at raising the gas tax. (Union Leader, 1/26/95)
After promising to veto any broad-based sales tax, she broke her promise and proposed the first-ever sales tax in New Hampshire history. (Union Leader, 2/7/01)
Again, she broke her promise and signed New Hampshire’s first statewide property tax into law – even saying “today we’re going to celebrate.” (Associated Press, 4/30/99)
JENNIFER HORN LAUNCHES TV AD “POCKETS”
Posted October 3rd, 2008 by Jennifer HornNASHUA – Jennifer Horn, Republican candidate for Congress, launched her first TV ad of the general election, titled “Pockets.” The ad began running on October 3, 2008.
Jennifer Horn: “It was on Paul Hodes watch and under his party’s leadership that we got into this economic mess. This Congress turned a blind eye to this impending economic crisis for two years. Paul Hodes and the Financial Services Committee have failed to provide any oversight and protection to the American people and their money, instead taking campaign handouts from the special interests regulated by his committee. The best way to fix our economy is to fire Paul Hodes.”
The text of the ad is as follows:
JENNIFER HORN:
Washington isn’t working for any of us.
Obama’s Fishy $200 Million - The Tip of the Iceberg
Posted October 2nd, 2008 by NH IndependentFrom the American Spectator:

FUNNY MONEY
An auditor for the Federal Election Commission is attempting to have his bosses seek a formal investigation into the collection by the Obama for President campaign of more than $200 million in potentially illegal political donations, including millions of dollars of illegal, foreign donations, and has sought a request for assistance from the Department of Justice or Federal Bureau of Investigation. But the analyst's requests have largely been ignored. "I can't get anyone to move. I believe we are looking at a hijacking of our political system that makes the Clinton and Gore fundraising scandals pale in comparison. And no one here wants to touch it."
In Case You Missed It: Sununu Endorsed By Union Leader
Posted October 2nd, 2008 by NHFactsSeptember 28, 2008
Six years ago, this newspaper endorsed John E. Sununu for U.S. Senate, writing, "John E. Sununu has stood out as one of the country's brightest and most innovative House members. If New Hampshire voters elect him to the U.S. Senate this Tuesday, he will become a nat ional leader in the new generation shaping America's future." Sen. Sununu has proven that assessment correct, and today we happily endorse him again.

Low Road Tactics From Cheshire County Democrats - Again
Posted September 30th, 2008 by NHFactsPerhaps frustrated by the failure of their tactics to stop the momentum of The McCain campaign, opponents of Senator John McCain have now turned to vandalism, graffiti, and theft.
Dozens of signs across Cheshire County have been defaced, destroyed, or just plain disappeared. One north side city homeowner has had 4 McCain yard signs stolen from their front yard since July. Another one Sunday night and a replacement again Monday night.
Cheshire County residents saw this behavior in 2006 and prior years. Sadly, it looks like these unlawful actions, endorsed by the County Democrats [since they know it is occurring and simply refuse to publicly ask their supporters to stop it], reflect negatively upon the county community.

HAS THE MEDIA GONE TOO FAR?
Posted September 28th, 2008 by NHFactsHave you had enough of the evening news, local newspaper editors and reporters?
Has the condescending lecture of the network anchor gotten old? Are you sick and tired of "reporters" who couldn't tell the story straight if their lives depended on it?
I am.
I am about fed up with a news industry that fundamentally fails to do its job, and which every day strays further and further from its purpose. I'm tired of partisan lectures and propaganda dressed up like the news. I have had about all I can take of the self-important blowhards who seem to think their role is to rudely mock and shout down the people who we elect to office.
I'm just tired of their crap.
Local Press Gives Biden Another "Free Pass"
Posted September 23rd, 2008 by South Park Cons...The local Keene "daily" gave Joe Biden another "Free Pass" this week.
Democratic Senator Joe Biden, in his interview with Katie Couric, said:
“When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed. He said, ‘look, here’s what happened.’”
Hopefully, you will recall that the stock market crash was in 1929.
There are two problems here: Television did not even exist in 1929 and FDR was elected in 1932. So FDR wasn’t even the leader at the time of the crash.
When Joe was in history class, was he cheating by looking over the class dunce’s shoulder, or does he just make this stuff up?

Susan J. Castor of Gilsum defeated Donna M. Shields of Winchester in the Republican primary for the register of probate seat.
Castor took 1,827 votes to the 1,295 ballots cast for her co-worker Shields. Castor will face incumbent Anna Z. Tilton, D-Keene, in November.
Castor has worked for the past decade as a court assistant at a four-person office inside the Cheshire County Courthouse alongside Shields, who has been a deputy register for 24 years. Castor was appointed deputy register three years ago.
Results from the 2nd Annual Republican Shoot in Cheshire County
Posted September 9th, 2008 by NHFactsThe sun shined on our 2nd Annual Republican Shoot! Grant Bosse, Bob Clegg, Jennifer Horn, and Rob Steiner, candidates for the 2nd Congressional District seat, all attended and were graciously quizzed on their stand on the 2nd amendment (and on lots of other topics). Grant Bosse had the highest total score for trap, pistol, and rifle events, so all other shooters competed with him.
Bill Campbell (Dawn Lincoln's husband) of Westmoreland won the Ruger rifle.
Helping our Young Conservative Voices helps our Country
Posted September 9th, 2008 by NHFactsRemember the photo of the CCRC Christmas Party (with Gov Huckabee) in TIME Magazine last December? Cheshire County was proud to see the faces of Keene High School's Young Conservative Voices up front and center. They continue to make all of us proud by helping daily at the Keene Headquarters, scheduling, phoning, particpating in lit drops, and keeping us technologically savvy.
We now have a chance to help them:
Young Conservative Voices is in a competition with the Alvirne HS
Young Republicans, and whoever gets the most points in gets to meet McCain and Palin when they come to the state...
They are having phone banks Tues., Wed., Thurs., and Friday of this week 6:00-8:30 PM.
Currently they are 800 points behind Alvirne, but they were 1200 behind, so the gap is closing.
Colonel Swindle To Visit Cheshire Republican Headquarters
Posted September 9th, 2008 by Marilyn HustonCheshire County Republicans,
Did you watch the GOP Convention on TV? If so, you may have seen Orson Swindle introduce a number of veterans in the audience. Colonel Swindle will be here THIS FRIDAY!
You are cordially invited to attend meet our special guest Orson Swindle, an advisor in Sen. McCain's presidential campaign. It will be a casual social event with light refreshments.
Mr. Swindle spent more than six years in North Vietnam as a POW, including time in the Hanoi Hilton when Sen. McCain was there. He retired from the Marine Corps as a lieutenant colonel in 1976 and was an assistant secretary of commerce during President Reagan's two terms and a federal trade commissioner from 1997 to 2005. He remains active in government and the private sector.
Grant Bosse - My Kind of Candidate
Posted September 8th, 2008 by NHFactsGrant Bosse is my kind of candidate
I find it refreshing when a candidate answers questions directly. Grant Bosse does this – he clearly, succinctly and consistently communicates his positions every chance he gets.
Dawn Lincoln – Candidate for State Rep for Gilsum, Surry and Westmoreland
Posted September 3rd, 2008 by NHFactsAs the Primary Election is rapidly approaching, I wanted to take a moment to ask for your vote on Tuesday, September 9th. In my district there are contested primary races for State Rep, Register of Probate (Castor, Shields), U.S Congress (Bosse, Clegg, Horn, Steiner) and U.S. Senate (Sununu, Alciere). Every vote counts – make time to get down to your polling location and let your voice be heard.
The major issues I will support if elected are:
Register of Probate in Cheshire County: Candidates' Questionaire
Posted September 2nd, 2008 by NHFactsAs you know, we created and host the nhfacts.com blog to provide information and insight into political and governmental issues related to Cheshire County and southwestern New Hampshire. Two local residents are running for the Republican endorsement for Register of Probate in Cheshire County: Susan Castor and Donna Shields.
On August 24, 2008, we asked both candidates to respond to the two questions below.
According to the Cheshire County website:
"The work of the Probate Court centers on protecting individual rights, particularly for some of the state's most vulnerable citizens: children, the elderly, and mentally and physically disabled youth and adults. The Probate Court resolves issues involving families as well as property."
