A Message From Jim Steiner
Ah, not the message I hoped to be sending, but I did not prevail in the primary. Many lessons learned, including that those that pushed raising money as the first goal ended up being quite correct. I was outspent 10:1 but thought I could rely on my message, record and reaching people. Those I reached did join us. The fact is I did not reach enough of the voters. Next time will be different.
I do wish to thank all of you for your support throughout this campaign. Terry and I have been blessed by meeting all of you, by you opening your doors, figuratively and actually, and by the anecdotal occurrences that we will cherish and remember always. Here is one of the last to occur:
At my own ward, where I ended the day, a woman approached with her daughter. She asked if I remembered her daughter, and I did. Eight years earlier I had coached her daughter on my soccer team. Her mom then explained that her daughter was now 18, and they were at the poll for only one reason. Her daughter wished to register so she could vote for her former soccer coach. How do you not claim victory after an occurrence like that!
Thank you again for all of your efforts.
