Dawn Lincoln – Candidate for State Rep for Gilsum, Surry and Westmoreland
As the Primary Election is rapidly approaching, I wanted to take a moment to ask for your vote on Tuesday, September 9th. In my district there are contested primary races for State Rep, Register of Probate (Castor, Shields), U.S Congress (Bosse, Clegg, Horn, Steiner) and U.S. Senate (Sununu, Alciere). Every vote counts – make time to get down to your polling location and let your voice be heard.
The major issues I will support if elected are:
Cutting spending – The recent biennial state budget increase of 17.5% is absurd. I am certain that most residents did not receive increases in take home pay that make it possible to pay that much more in state taxes without a negative impact on their budget. It is unnecessary and irresponsible to saddle the taxpayers with such a huge bill. I want you to keep as much of your hard earned money as possible and trust that you can best decide how to spend, save or donate it.
Reducing taxes and fees – To support the bloated state budget, numerous taxes and fees were increased in a feeble attempt to meet the overinflated revenue estimates. NH has traditionally been a state with a low tax burden. We need to work to keep it that way by reducing or repealing expensive taxes and fees.
Respecting your constitutionally protected rights – Our NH Constitution deserves the utmost respect and legislators have an obligation to ensure that all laws passed are not contrary to this guiding document. For two examples, I strongly believe in our right to keep and bear arms and I abhor eminent domain.
Reducing regulation – NH businesses should be governed by the free-market. As a representative, I want to change our statutes to make NH a business friendly destination. Businesses should be encouraged to set up shop here or to expand their businesses. This can be done by reducing regulations and business taxes. Too much regulation makes the hurdles too high for many entrepreneurs. High business taxes are a disincentive to locate in NH. Small business is the backbone of this state – I respect and support that.
